This Is Our Own: The Ghana Premier League Returns.

The 2023-24 season of the BetPawa Premier League is set to kick off this weekend after a gruesome and captivating transfer window and pre-season tours for the various teams. Can Medeama defend their title or will the big guns in Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko under new guidance reclaim their glory?. Newbies, Nations FC, Tano Bofoakwa and Kpando Heart of Lions will be seeking to stake a claim at the expense of the old guards.

Here is what to expect on the opening weekend of this season's BetPawa Premier League.

The action commences at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Friday September 15, as Real Tamale United play host to Accra Hearts of Oak. The Phobians are yet to beat RTU at their backyard since their return to the topflight but an impressive pre-season run will keep Dutch gaffer Martin Koopman's side in high spirit ahead of their clash in the North. Rustum Gameli will be the center referee on the day assisted by Eric Ndebugri and Ernest Akatey.

The Accra Sports Stadium will be the venue of attraction on Saturday September 16, when natives Accra Great Olympics welcome home newly promoted Tano Bofoakwa. With experienced Annor Walker back at the helm of affairs, the 'Rosalinda Boys' will be a side to watch this season. The man in charge of the game will be Adaari Abdul-Latif with his assistants being Ali Timuah Baah and Halilu Alhassan.

Fives games are slated for Sunday September 17, with four kicking off in the afternoon and the other being played under the lights.

At the El Wak Stadium, Legon Cities will play host to Karela United with referee Jacob Aduntera taking charge of the game assisted by Tijani Mohammed and Theophilus Akugre.

Nsoatreman FC will welcome Bechem United to the Nana Koramansah Sports Complex for their season opener. Referee Benjamin Sefah will oversee this encounter assisted by Peter Dawsa and Frederick Danful.

The Nsenkyire Sports Arena will host the staggering game between FC Samartex and Aduana FC. The 'Ogya' boys will be looking to make amends after relinquishing the league title to Medeama with just three games to go last season. Referee Julian Nunoo who was adjudged 'Best Referee' in the just ended season will take charge of this game with help from Kwesi Brobbey and Roland Addy.

Bibiani Goldstars will travel to the Goldencity Park to face Berekum Chelsea. The game will be overseen by Abdul Latif Qadir with Emmanuel Dolangbanu and Gabriel Boateng assisting him.

Later in the day, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium's floodlights will be on display when Kumasi Asante Kotoko welcome home Kpando Heart of Lions. Prosper Nartey Ogum will be looking to replicate his achievements from two seasons ago with the 'Porcupine Warriors' in his second stint at the club. George Vornawor will be the center referee with Gilbert Adom and Richard Nartey assisting him.

Medeama SC and Dreams FC will see their season openers delayed a bit owing to their participation in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup respectively.

Under the dashing sun on Wednesday September 20, the Theater of Dreams Park in Dawu will see Dreams FC take on newcomers Nations FC. Referee for the day will be Charles Bulu with Seth Abletor and Pascal Mawusi assisting him.

Simultaneously, the Akoon Park in Tarkwa will be the venue of attraction when champions Medeama SC begin their title defense against Accra Lions. Referee Selorm Yao Bless will take charge of the game with Paul Atimaka and Courage Kuedufia helping him out on the lines.
